Ingredients

Units Scale

For the Beef:

  • 1 lb (450g) roast beef, thinly sliced (or deli-style roast beef)
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp dried Italian seasoning
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 2 tbsp beef broth (optional, for moisture)

For the Crostini Base:

  • 1 baguette, sliced into 1/2-inch rounds
  • 3 tbsp olive oil (for brushing)
  • 1 garlic clove, halved

Toppings:

  • 1/2 cup creamy horseradish sauce (or aioli)
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella or provolone cheese
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley (for garnish)
  • 2 tbsp balsamic glaze (optional, for drizzling)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Crostini Base:
    • Preheat the oven to 400ยฐF (200ยฐC).
    • Arrange baguette slices on a baking sheet. Brush both sides lightly with olive oil.
    • Bake for 6-8 minutes, flipping halfway, until golden and crispy.
    • Rub each toasted slice with the cut side of a garlic clove for flavor.
  2. Cook the Beef:
    • Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat.
    • Add sliced roast beef, garlic powder, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Toss to coat and heat through. If needed, add a splash of beef broth for extra moisture.
  3. Assemble the Crostini:
    • Spread a small amount of horseradish sauce on each crostini.
    • Top with a slice or small portion of the seasoned beef.
    • Sprinkle shredded mozzarella or provolone cheese on top.
  4. Melt the Cheese:
    • Place assembled crostini back on the baking sheet and broil for 2-3 minutes until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  5. Garnish and Serve:
    • Remove from the oven and garnish with fresh parsley. Drizzle with balsamic glaze if desired. Serve warm or at room temperature.

Notes

  • Use high-quality deli beef for convenience or make your own roast beef from scratch for a deeper flavor.
  • Substitute mozzarella with fontina or gruyere for a different cheese profile.
  • Crostini can be made ahead of time and stored in an airtight container for up to 2 days.
