  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 3/4 cup buttermilk
  • 1 egg
  • 2 tbsp melted butter
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract

For the Burger Patties:

  • 1 lb ground beef (80/20)
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder

Toppings:

  • 6 slices crispy bacon
  • 4 slices cheddar cheese
  • 2 tbsp maple syrup
  • 1 tbsp butter (for toasting waffles)
  • 2 fried eggs (optional)

Instructions

Step 1: Make the Waffles

  1. Preheat your waffle iron.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, whisk buttermilk, egg, melted butter, and vanilla extract.
  4. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix until combined.
  5. Cook the batter in the waffle iron until golden brown. Set aside.

Step 2: Cook the Bacon

  1. Heat a skillet over medium heat.
  2. Cook the bacon until crispy, then place it on paper towels to drain excess grease.

Step 3: Make the Burger Patties

  1. In a bowl, mix ground beef, salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder.
  2. Divide the beef into 2 equal patties and shape them slightly larger than the waffles.
  3. Cook the patties in the same skillet over medium-high heat for about 3-4 minutes per side or until desired doneness.
  4. In the last minute of cooking, add a slice of cheddar cheese on top and let it melt.

Step 4: Assemble the Burger

  1. Butter the waffles and lightly toast them in a pan.
  2. Place a waffle on the plate as the bottom bun.
  3. Add the beef patty with melted cheese.
  4. Layer on crispy bacon.
  5. (Optional) Add a fried egg for extra flavor.
  6. Drizzle with maple syrup.
  7. Top with another waffle and serve immediately!

Notes

  • You can use frozen waffles for convenience.
  • Swap cheddar cheese for pepper jack if you like extra spice.
  • Add lettuce or tomato for a fresh touch.
  • Serve with a side of hash browns or sweet potato fries!
