Ingredients
Scale
- 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, melted
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp baking powder
- 1 cup M&M’s candies, divided
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease an 8×8-inch baking pan or line it with parchment paper.
- In a medium mixing bowl, whisk together the melted butter and granulated sugar until smooth.
- Add the eggs and vanilla extract, and beat until fully combined.
- Sift in the cocoa powder, flour, salt, and baking powder. Gently fold the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until just combined—do not overmix.
- Stir in 3/4 cup of the M&M’s, reserving the remaining 1/4 cup for topping.
- Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and spread it evenly. Sprinkle the reserved M&M’s over the top.
- Bake for 25–30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with a few moist crumbs. Do not overbake for the fudgiest brownies.
- Allow the brownies to cool completely in the pan before slicing into squares.
Notes
- For a richer flavor, you can add 1/4 cup of chocolate chips to the batter.
- Feel free to swap regular M&M’s with seasonal varieties for a festive twist.
- Store brownies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 4 days or freeze for up to 3 months.
