Ingredients

Units Scale

Wet Ingredients

  • 3 large ripe bananas, mashed (about 1 1/4 cups)
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted and slightly cooled
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract

Dry Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

Optional Add-ins

  • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts or pecans
  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat and Prep Pan – Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a 9×5-inch loaf pan with parchment paper or lightly grease it to prevent sticking.
  2. Mash Bananas – In a large mixing bowl, mash the ripe bananas until smooth. The riper the bananas, the sweeter and moister your bread will be.
  3. Combine Wet Ingredients – Whisk in the melted butter, sugar, eggs, and vanilla extract until the mixture is well blended and creamy.
  4. Add Dry Ingredients – Sprinkle the flour, baking soda, and salt evenly over the wet mixture. Gently fold until just combined. Do not overmix—the batter should be a bit lumpy for a tender loaf.
  5. Stir in Add-Ins – If using nuts or chocolate chips, fold them in now with a spatula, making sure they’re evenly distributed.
  6. Transfer and Bake – Pour the batter into your prepared loaf pan and smooth the top. Bake for 55-65 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean or with a few moist crumbs.
  7. Cool and Serve – Allow the banana bread to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then lift it out and let cool completely on a wire rack before slicing. Enjoy warm or at room temperature.

Notes

  • For best results, use bananas with lots of brown spots.
  • Do not overmix the batter—gentle folding creates a softer crumb.
  • Banana bread stays fresh for up to 3 days in an airtight container at room temperature, or freeze slices for up to 3 months.
  • Customize with your favorite add-ins like dried fruit, coconut, or a sprinkle of cinnamon.
