Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 large egg
- 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 tsp almond extract (or vanilla extract)
- 1/4 tsp salt
- Sprinkles or colored sugar for decoration (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add the egg, almond extract (or vanilla), and salt. Beat until well combined.
- Gradually add the flour to the wet ingredients, mixing until the dough comes together.
- Load the dough into a cookie press fitted with your desired disc shape. Press the dough onto ungreased baking sheets, spacing the cookies about 1 inch apart.
- Decorate with sprinkles or colored sugar if desired.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 8-10 minutes, or until the edges are just beginning to turn golden.
- Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 2-3 minutes, then transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
- For the best results, use a sturdy cookie press and work quickly.
- If the dough is too soft, chill it for 10-15 minutes before pressing.
- These cookies can be stored in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 1 week or frozen for longer storage.
