Description

Peppermint bark is a festive holiday treat made with layers of rich chocolate and a sprinkle of crushed peppermint candies. It’s simple to make and perfect for gift-giving or serving at holiday parties!

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 12 oz (340 g) semi-sweet chocolate chips or chopped chocolate
  • 12 oz (340 g) white chocolate chips or chopped white chocolate
  • 1 tsp peppermint extract (optional)
  • 1 cup crushed peppermint candies or candy canes

Instructions

  1. Prepare the pan: Line a 9×13-inch baking dish or rimmed baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Melt the semi-sweet chocolate: In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the semi-sweet chocolate in 30-second intervals, stirring after each interval until smooth. Alternatively, melt it using a double boiler.
  3. Spread the chocolate: Pour the melted semi-sweet chocolate onto the prepared pan and spread it evenly into a thin layer. Let it set slightly, about 10 minutes in the refrigerator.
  4. Melt the white chocolate: In a separate bowl, melt the white chocolate using the same method. Stir in peppermint extract, if using.
  5. Layer the white chocolate: Pour the melted white chocolate over the semi-sweet chocolate layer, spreading it evenly.
  6. Add the crushed candies: Immediately sprinkle the crushed peppermint candies over the white chocolate layer, pressing gently to ensure they stick.
  7. Chill and set: Refrigerate the bark for about 1 hour or until completely set.
  8. Break into pieces: Once hardened, remove from the pan and break into bite-sized pieces.

Notes

  • For a smoother finish, temper the chocolate before layering.
  • Store peppermint bark in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 weeks, or in the refrigerator for longer freshness.
