Scale
- 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
- 4 slices deli ham
- 4 slices Swiss cheese
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 large eggs
- 1 tablespoon milk
- 1 cup breadcrumbs
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon paprika
- 2 tablespoons olive oil or melted butter (for baking)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease a baking dish or line with parchment paper.
- Place chicken breasts between plastic wrap and pound to 1/4-inch thickness using a meat mallet.
- Place one slice of ham and one slice of cheese on each chicken breast. Roll up tightly and secure with toothpicks.
- Set up a breading station: place flour in one bowl; beat eggs with milk in a second bowl; mix breadcrumbs, salt, pepper, garlic powder, and paprika in a third.
- Dredge each chicken roll in flour, dip in egg wash, then coat in seasoned breadcrumbs.
- Place in prepared baking dish and drizzle with olive oil or melted butter for extra crispiness.
- Bake for 25–30 minutes, or until chicken is cooked through and golden brown (internal temperature should be 165°F/75°C).
- Let rest for 5 minutes before slicing. Remove toothpicks before serving.
Notes
- Use toothpicks or kitchen twine to secure rolls and prevent filling from leaking.
- Serve with Dijon cream sauce or over mashed potatoes for a complete meal.
- Can be prepped ahead and refrigerated before baking.
