Description
A playful mash-up of pizza flavors and grilled cheese comfort: gooey mozzarella, pepperoni, and marinara sauce grilled between buttery, crisp bread.

- 4 slices of bread (Italian or sourdough)
- 2 tablespoons butter, softened
- 1/2 cup marinara sauce
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 8–10 pepperoni slices
- 1/4 teaspoon dried oregano (optional)
- Pinch of red pepper flakes (optional)
Instructions
- Butter one side of each bread slice.
- Heat a skillet over medium heat.
- Place two slices of bread, butter-side down, in the skillet.
- Spread about 2 tablespoons marinara sauce on each slice.
- Top each with 1/2 cup mozzarella (distributed evenly).
- Add 4โ5 pepperoni slices per sandwich.
- If desired, sprinkle oregano and red pepper flakes.
- Finish with remaining bread slices, butter-side up.
- Cook for 2โ3 minutes until golden and crispy.
- Carefully flip, cook another 2โ3 minutes until cheese melts and bread is golden.
- Remove, let rest 1 minute, slice in half, and serve warm.
Notes
- Add cooked sausage, mushrooms, or peppers for extra toppings.
- Use fresh basil for a Caprese-style all-star.
- Swap mozzarella for provolone or a spicy pepper jack for variation.
- Press sandwich lightly during grilling for better melting.
