A fun and delicious twist on pizza, this casserole combines pasta, marinara sauce, pepperoni, and melted cheese for a hearty, family-friendly dish.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 12 oz penne pasta (or your preferred pasta)
  • 1 jar (24 oz) marinara sauce
  • 1 1/2 cups pepperoni slices
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • Fresh basil, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and lightly grease a 9×13-inch casserole dish.
  2. Cook the pasta according to the package instructions, drain, and set aside.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, combine the cooked pasta, marinara sauce, pepperoni, oregano, garlic powder, and red pepper flakes (if using). Stir well to combine.
  4. Transfer the pasta mixture to the prepared casserole dish and spread it out evenly.
  5. Top the casserole with shredded mozzarella and grated Parmesan cheese.
  6. Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  7. Remove from the oven and let it rest for 5 minutes before serving. Garnish with fresh basil.
  8. Serve hot and enjoy your pizza pasta casserole!

Notes

  • You can substitute the pepperoni with other pizza toppings like cooked sausage, mushrooms, or bell peppers.
  • For a healthier version, use whole wheat pasta or add some vegetables like spinach or zucchini.
  • This casserole can be made ahead and stored in the fridge for up to 2 days before baking.
