Description

Prosciutto and Brie Upside-Down Pastries are savory puff pastry bites layered with sweet caramelized onions, creamy Brie, and salty prosciutto, baked upside-down for a golden, elegant appetizer or snack.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 1 sheet puff pastry, thawed
  • 6 slices prosciutto
  • 4 oz Brie cheese, sliced
  • 1/2 cup caramelized onions
  • 1 tablespoon honey (optional)
  • 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
  • Flour, for dusting

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C) and lightly grease or line a muffin tin or baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Roll out the puff pastry on a lightly floured surface and cut into 6 equal squares.
  3. In each greased muffin cup or on the lined baking sheet, layer a spoonful of caramelized onions, a piece of Brie, and half a slice of prosciutto.
  4. Optionally, drizzle a small amount of honey over each stack for sweetness.
  5. Place a puff pastry square on top of each stack, tucking in the edges slightly to seal.
  6. Brush the tops with beaten egg.
  7. Bake for 18–22 minutes, or until puffed and golden brown.
  8. Let cool for 2–3 minutes, then gently flip each pastry to reveal the golden topping. Serve warm.

Notes

  • Use a silicone muffin tray or parchment paper to prevent sticking.
  • Add a sprinkle of thyme or cracked black pepper for extra flavor.
  • Can be prepped ahead and baked just before serving.
