Description

These Puppy Chow Chocolate Truffles are a fun and decadent twist on the classic Muddy Buddies snack! Creamy peanut butter and chocolate centers are rolled in powdered sugar and crushed Chex for a rich bite-size treat with the perfect crunch. No baking needed, and they’re great for parties, gifting, or just snacking.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

  • 1/2 cup creamy peanut butter

  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter

  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

  • 2 cups powdered sugar (divided)

  • 1 1/2 cups Rice Chex cereal, crushed

  • Optional: Pinch of salt (if using unsalted peanut butter)

Instructions

  • In a medium microwave-safe bowl, combine chocolate chips, peanut butter, and butter. Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring between each, until smooth and melted (about 1–2 minutes total).

  • Stir in the vanilla extract and a pinch of salt, if using.

  • Chill the mixture in the refrigerator for 1–2 hours, or until firm enough to scoop.

  • Once chilled, scoop into 1-inch balls using a cookie scoop or spoon. Roll between your hands to smooth them out.

  • Roll each truffle in crushed Chex, gently pressing the cereal onto the surface.

  • Then roll each truffle in powdered sugar. Repeat if you want them extra coated.

  • Chill for another 30 minutes to set, then serve or store in an airtight container in the fridge.

Notes

  • Use crunchy peanut butter if you want extra texture.

  • You can mix some crushed Chex into the chocolate mixture before chilling for added crunch inside.

  • Want them extra chocolatey? Drizzle with melted chocolate before dusting with powdered sugar.

  • Best served chilled but can sit at room temperature for about 1 hour.
