For the Dough:
- 3 1/2 cups (440g) all-purpose flour
- 2 1/4 teaspoons (1 packet) instant yeast
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 3/4 cup (180ml) warm milk (110ยฐF or 45ยฐC)
- 1/4 cup (60ml) warm water
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 large egg
For the Garlic Butter Mixture:
- 4 tablespoons (56g) unsalted butter, melted
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon fresh rosemary, finely chopped
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
- 1/2 cup (50g) grated Parmesan cheese
Instructions
- Activate the Yeast:
In a small bowl, mix warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until foamy. - Make the Dough:
In a large mixing bowl, combine flour and salt. Add the yeast mixture, warm milk, olive oil, and egg. Mix until a dough forms. Knead for about 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic. - First Rise:
Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a clean towel, and let it rise in a warm place for 1-1.5 hours or until doubled in size. - Prepare the Garlic Butter Mixture:
In a small bowl, mix melted butter, minced garlic, rosemary, salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes. - Shape the Bread:
Punch down the dough and divide it into small pieces (about golf ball-sized). Dip each piece into the garlic butter mixture and place them in a greased 9-inch round or loaf pan, layering them slightly. Sprinkle Parmesan cheese in between layers. - Second Rise:
Cover the pan and let it rise for another 30-45 minutes until puffy. - Bake:
Preheat oven to 375ยฐF (190ยฐC). Bake for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown on top. - Serve:
Let it cool for a few minutes, then enjoy warm!
Notes
- You can use dried rosemary if fresh isnโt available (reduce to 1 teaspoon).
- Add extra cheese on top before baking for a crispy, cheesy crust.
- Serve with marinara sauce or olive oil for dipping.
