- 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 cups whole milk
- Salt and black pepper, to taste
- 1 can refrigerated biscuit dough (8 biscuits)
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder (optional)
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder (optional)
- Chopped fresh parsley, for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven:ย Preheat your oven to 375ยฐF (190ยฐC). Lightly grease a 12-cup muffin tin.
- Prepare the biscuit cups:ย Separate the refrigerated biscuit dough and press each biscuit into the muffin tin cups, creating a cup shape. Press the dough up the sides to form a well for the gravy.
- Cook the sausage:ย In a skillet over medium heat, cook the breakfast sausage until browned and crumbled. Drain excess fat.
- Make the gravy:ย Add butter to the sausage in the skillet. Once melted, sprinkle in the flour and stir to combine. Cook for about 1-2 minutes to remove the raw flour taste. Gradually add the milk, stirring constantly, until the mixture thickens into a creamy gravy. Season with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder to taste.
- Fill the biscuit cups:ย Spoon the sausage gravy evenly into each biscuit cup.
- Bake:ย Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until the biscuit cups are golden brown and cooked through.
- Garnish and serve:ย Remove from the oven, garnish with chopped parsley if desired, and serve warm.
Notes
- If you like a spicier flavor, use spicy breakfast sausage or add red pepper flakes to the gravy.
- You can make the sausage gravy ahead of time and just assemble and bake the cups when ready.
- Serve with scrambled eggs for a complete breakfast.
