Description

A delicious twist on classic grilled cheese, featuring succulent shrimp, melted cheese, and buttery grilled bread for a gourmet sandwich experience.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 slices of sourdough bread
  • 8 large shrimp, peeled, deveined and cooked
  • 2 tablespoons butter, softened
  • 4 slices Gruyรจre or sharp cheddar cheese
  • 1 tablespoon mayonnaise
  • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 small garlic clove, minced
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh chives (optional)
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, mix mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, minced garlic, chives, salt, and pepper.
  2. Spread the butter evenly on one side of each bread slice.
  3. On the non-buttered side, spread the mayonnaise-mustard mixture on two slices.
  4. Layer cheese slices on top of the spread, then arrange cooked shrimp evenly over the cheese. Top with remaining cheese slices and place the other bread slices on top, butter-side out.
  5. Heat a skillet over medium-low heat. Place the sandwiches in the skillet and grill until golden brown, about 3โ€“4 minutes per side, pressing gently with a spatula.
  6. Once cheese is melted and bread is crisp and golden, remove from skillet. Let rest for a minute, then slice in half and serve hot.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, toss shrimp in a bit of paprika or Old Bay seasoning before cooking.
  • If you like spice, add a few dashes of hot sauce to the mayonnaise mixture.
  • You can substitute bread with whole wheat or ciabatta for a different texture.
  • Use low-fat cheese or light butter to reduce calories.
