- 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 3/4 cup unsalted butter, melted and slightly cooled
- 1 cup brown sugar, packed
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 large egg + 1 egg yolk
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 2 cups semisweet chocolate chips
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 325°F (165°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt.
- In a large bowl, combine melted butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar. Beat until smooth and well blended.
- Add the egg, egg yolk, and vanilla extract. Mix until fully combined.
- Gradually mix in the dry ingredients until just combined. Stir in chocolate chips.
- Scoop dough onto prepared baking sheets, spacing 2 inches apart.
- Bake for 10–12 minutes or until edges are golden and centers are still soft.
- Cool on baking sheets for 5 minutes, then transfer to wire racks to cool completely.
Notes
- Chilling the dough for 30 minutes enhances flavor and texture, but it’s optional.
- Use a cookie scoop for evenly sized cookies.
- Store cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days or freeze for longer storage.
