Ingredients

Units Scale

For the Spaghetti

  • 8 oz (225 g) dried spaghetti
  • 1 tablespoon salt (for boiling water)

For the Sauce

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cups (500 ml) tomato sauce or marinara sauce
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • Salt and pepper to taste

For the Tacos

  • 8 crispy taco shells
  • 1 cup (100 g) shredded mozzarella or cheddar cheese
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley or basil (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Cook the Spaghetti: Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the dried spaghetti and cook according to package instructions until al dente. Drain well and set aside.
  2. Prepare the Sauce: While the spaghetti cooks, heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and chopped onion, sautรฉing for 2-3 minutes until fragrant and translucent. Stir in the tomato sauce, oregano, basil, salt, and pepper. Let the sauce simmer gently for about 5-7 minutes.
  3. Toss Spaghetti with Sauce: Add the drained spaghetti into the skillet with the sauce. Toss well to ensure the noodles are evenly coated with the tomato sauce. Cook together for 1-2 minutes to allow flavors to meld.
  4. Assemble the Tacos: Warm the taco shells in a preheated oven at 350ยฐF (175ยฐC) for 2-3 minutes, if desired. Carefully spoon a generous amount of sauced spaghetti into each taco shell. Sprinkle each with shredded cheese and garnish with herbs, if using.
  5. Serve: Serve the spaghetti tacos immediately while the shells are crisp, and enjoy the playful combination of flavors and textures.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, add cooked ground beef or Italian sausage to the sauce.
  • Use whole wheat or gluten-free spaghetti for a different dietary need.
  • Be gentle when filling the taco shells to prevent cracking.
  • Best enjoyed immediately; assembled tacos may become soggy if left to sit.
