For the Donuts:

  • 1 1/2 cups (190g) all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup (100g) granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup (60ml) unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/2 cup (120ml) buttermilk
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup (120g) fresh strawberries, finely chopped

For the Strawberry Glaze:

  • 1 cup (120g) powdered sugar
  • 2โ€“3 tbsp strawberry puree (made by blending fresh strawberries)
  • 1โ€“2 tsp milk, as needed

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven:ย Preheat your oven to 350ยฐF (175ยฐC). Grease a donut pan and set aside.
  2. Mix dry ingredients:ย In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. Combine wet ingredients:ย In a separate bowl, whisk together the sugar, melted butter, buttermilk, egg, and vanilla extract. Stir in the chopped strawberries.
  4. Combine mixtures:ย Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, mixing until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.
  5. Fill the donut pan:ย Spoon the batter into the prepared donut pan, filling each cavity about ยพ full.
  6. Bake:ย Bake for 10โ€“12 minutes or until the donuts are set and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Let the donuts cool in the pan for 5 minutes, then transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely.
  7. Prepare the glaze:ย In a small bowl, whisk together powdered sugar and strawberry puree until smooth. Add a little milk if needed to reach a glaze consistency.
