Description

These delightful Strawberry Puff Pastry Hearts are a perfect treat for Valentine’s Day or any special occasion. With a flaky, buttery pastry, sweet strawberry filling, and a dusting of powdered sugar, these are both beautiful and delicious. Easy to make and guaranteed to impress!

Ingredients

Units Scale

For the Pastry:

  • 1 sheet puff pastry, thawed
  • 2 tbsp granulated sugar

For the Filling:

  • 1/2 cup strawberry jam or preserves
  • 1/2 cup fresh strawberries, diced

For Decoration:

  • 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
  • Powdered sugar, for dusting

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Pastry:
    • Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
    • Roll out the thawed puff pastry on a lightly floured surface. Use a heart-shaped cookie cutter to cut out an even number of hearts.
  2. Assemble the Hearts:
    • Place half of the hearts on the prepared baking sheet. Spread 1 teaspoon of strawberry jam in the center of each, leaving a small border around the edges. Add a few diced strawberry pieces on top of the jam.
    • Brush the edges with beaten egg, then place another heart-shaped pastry on top. Press the edges gently with a fork to seal them.
  3. Bake:
    • Brush the tops with egg wash and sprinkle with granulated sugar.
    • Bake for 12–15 minutes, or until the pastries are puffed and golden brown.
  4. Finish and Serve:
    • Let the pastries cool for a few minutes, then dust with powdered sugar before serving.

Notes

  • Use raspberry or apricot jam for a fun twist.
  • To make the recipe vegan, use a non-dairy puff pastry and brush the edges with almond milk instead of egg wash.
