- 1 lb ground beef
- 14.5 oz can diced tomatoes
- 1 cup ketchup
- 1/2 cup bottled barbecue sauce
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 2 tbsp sugar
- 1 box (8 slices) frozen garlic Texas toast
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
Instructions
- Brown and crumble the ground beef in a large skillet over medium-high heat; drain excess grease.
- Return meat to skillet; stir in diced tomatoes, ketchup, barbecue sauce, Worcestershire sauce, and sugar.
- Cover and cook on medium heat for about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Meanwhile, prepare the garlic Texas toast according to package directions.
- When toast is done, top each slice with sloppy Joe mixture.
- Sprinkle shredded cheddar over each slice; let cheese melt (toast in oven briefly if needed).
- Serve warm.
Notes
- Omit tomatoes if you prefer a smoother sauce.
- Adjust sugar based on sweetness of your BBQ sauce.
- For extra crispiness, broil the cheese-topped toast for a minute.
