Description

Texas Yum Yum is a crowd-pleasing, no-bake dessert featuring luscious layers of sweetened cream cheese, chocolate pudding, and a buttery graham cracker crust. Perfect for potlucks and family gatherings, this make-ahead treat is creamy, chocolatey, and guaranteed to satisfy any sweet tooth.

Ingredients

Units Scale

Crust

  • 2 cups graham cracker crumbs
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar

Cream Cheese Layer

  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 cup whipped topping (such as Cool Whip)

Chocolate Pudding Layer

  • 2 (3.9 ounce) packages instant chocolate pudding mix
  • 3 1/2 cups cold milk

Topping

  • 2 cups whipped topping (such as Cool Whip)
  • Chocolate shavings or mini chocolate chips, for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Crust: In a medium bowl, combine the graham cracker crumbs, melted butter, and granulated sugar. Mix until well combined and the crumbs are evenly moistened. Press the mixture firmly into the bottom of a 9×13-inch baking dish, creating an even layer. Place the dish in the refrigerator to chill while you prepare the next layer.
  2. Make the Cream Cheese Layer: In a large mixing bowl, beat the cream cheese until smooth and creamy. Add the powdered sugar and continue beating until well blended. Gently fold in the whipped topping until the mixture is light and fluffy. Spread this cream cheese mixture evenly over the chilled crust.
  3. Prepare the Chocolate Pudding: In a separate large bowl, whisk together the instant chocolate pudding mix and cold milk until thick and smooth, about 2 minutes. Let the pudding sit for 5 minutes to fully thicken.
  4. Assemble the Pudding Layer: Carefully spread the prepared chocolate pudding evenly over the cream cheese layer, smoothing it out with a spatula.
  5. Add the Topping and Chill: Spread the remaining whipped topping over the pudding layer. Sprinkle with chocolate shavings or mini chocolate chips for garnish, if desired. Refrigerate the Texas Yum Yum for at least 4 hours, or overnight, to allow the layers to set.
  6. Serve: Slice into squares and serve chilled. Enjoy!

Notes

  • You can substitute vanilla pudding for the chocolate for a fun twist.
  • Full-fat cream cheese and whipped topping yield the richest flavor, but lighter versions work as well.
  • Allow ample chilling time for neat, clean slices.
  • Store leftovers covered in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
