- 4 tbsp all-purpose flour
- 4 cups whole milk (warm)
- 2 cups sharp cheddar cheese, shredded

- 2 tbsp melted butter
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese

Instructions
- Cook the pasta:
Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the macaroni and cook until just al dente (about 1 minute less than package directions). Drain and set aside. - Make the cheese sauce:
In a large saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Whisk in the flour to form a roux and cook for 1-2 minutes until golden and bubbly.
Slowly whisk in the warm milk, stirring constantly until the mixture thickens (about 4-5 minutes).
Remove from heat and stir in the cheddar, mozzarella, Gruyรจre, Dijon mustard, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Mix until the cheese is melted and smooth. - Combine pasta and sauce:
Add the cooked macaroni to the cheese sauce and stir until well coated. - Prepare the topping:
In a small bowl, mix the panko breadcrumbs with melted butter, Parmesan cheese, and paprika. - Assemble and bake:
Preheat your oven to 375ยฐF (190ยฐC).
Pour the mac and cheese into a greased 9×13-inch baking dish. Evenly sprinkle the breadcrumb mixture over the top.
Bake uncovered for 20-25 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and crispy. - Serve:
Let it cool slightly before serving. Enjoy the creamy, cheesy goodness!
Notes
- For an extra cheesy mac, add more cheese to the sauce or layer some between the pasta before adding the topping.
- Substitute Gruyรจre with more cheddar or Monterey Jack if preferred.
- Add cooked bacon, sautรฉed onions, or roasted veggies for extra flavor.
- To make ahead, assemble without baking, cover, and refrigerate. When ready to bake, add 5-10 extra minutes to the baking time.
