Ingredients
-
1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened
-
1 cup brown sugar, packed
-
1/2 cup granulated sugar
-
2 large eggs
-
2 tsp vanilla extract
-
2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
-
1 tsp baking soda
-
1/2 tsp salt
-
1 1/2 cups M&M’s candies (plus extra for topping)
-
1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips (optional)
Instructions
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
Cream the butter and sugars:
In a large bowl, use a hand mixer or wooden spoon to beat the softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar together until smooth and creamy.
Add eggs and vanilla:
Mix in the eggs, one at a time, followed by the vanilla extract.
Add dry ingredients:
Stir in flour, baking soda, and salt until just combined. Don’t overmix.
Add M&M’s:
Fold in M&M’s and chocolate chips (if using). Reserve a few M&M’s for pressing on top before baking.
Scoop and bake:
Drop dough by rounded tablespoons (or use a medium cookie scoop) onto prepared baking sheets, about 2 inches apart. Press a few extra M&M’s into the tops of the dough balls for a bakery-style look.
Bake for 9–11 minutes, or until edges are just golden and centers still look slightly soft. Don’t overbake—they’ll continue to set as they cool.
Notes
-
For extra chewiness, slightly underbake and let the cookies rest.
-
Use seasonal or mini M&M’s for a fun twist.
