  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 can crushed tomatoes
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Cheese Mixture:

  • 1 1/2 cups ricotta cheese
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese

Additional:

  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese for topping

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven: Preheat the oven to 375ยฐF (190ยฐC).
  2. Cabbage Layer: In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the sliced cabbage, season with salt and pepper, and cook until softened, about 10 minutes. Remove from heat and set aside.
  3. Meat Sauce: In the same skillet, brown the ground beef over medium-high heat. Add the onion and garlic, cooking until softened. Stir in the crushed tomatoes, oregano, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 10 minutes.
  4. Cheese Mixture: In a bowl, combine the ricotta cheese, egg, Parmesan cheese, and mozzarella cheese.
  5. Assemble: In a baking dish, layer half of the cabbage, followed by half of the meat sauce, and half of the cheese mixture. Repeat the layers. Top with grated Parmesan cheese.
  6. Bake: Cover the dish with foil and bake for 30 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes until bubbly and golden.
  7. Serve: Let the lasagna rest for 10 minutes before slicing and serving.
