Cabbage Layer:
- 1 head of cabbage, cored and thinly sliced
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- Salt and pepper to taste
Meat Sauce:
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 onion, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 can crushed tomatoes
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- Salt and pepper to taste
Cheese Mixture:
- 1 1/2 cups ricotta cheese
- 1 egg
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
Additional:
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese for topping
Instructions
- Preheat the oven: Preheat the oven to 375ยฐF (190ยฐC).
- Cabbage Layer: In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the sliced cabbage, season with salt and pepper, and cook until softened, about 10 minutes. Remove from heat and set aside.
- Meat Sauce: In the same skillet, brown the ground beef over medium-high heat. Add the onion and garlic, cooking until softened. Stir in the crushed tomatoes, oregano, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 10 minutes.
- Cheese Mixture: In a bowl, combine the ricotta cheese, egg, Parmesan cheese, and mozzarella cheese.
- Assemble: In a baking dish, layer half of the cabbage, followed by half of the meat sauce, and half of the cheese mixture. Repeat the layers. Top with grated Parmesan cheese.
- Bake: Cover the dish with foil and bake for 30 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes until bubbly and golden.
- Serve: Let the lasagna rest for 10 minutes before slicing and serving.

- You can use ground turkey or chicken in place of beef for a lighter option.
- Feel free to add your favorite herbs and spices to customize the flavors.
