Description

Torta de Jamón is a classic Mexican sandwich made with crusty bolillo bread, layers of ham, creamy avocado, pickled jalapeños, tomato, and lettuce. It’s a satisfying and flavorful lunch or on-the-go meal.


Ingredients

  • 4 bolillo rolls (or similar crusty sandwich rolls)
  • 8 slices of deli ham
  • 1 ripe avocado, sliced
  • 1 large tomato, sliced
  • 1/2 cup shredded lettuce
  • 4 tablespoons mayonnaise
  • 2 tablespoons mustard (optional)
  • 1/4 cup pickled jalapeños
  • Butter for toasting (optional)

Instructions

  1. Slice the bolillo rolls in half lengthwise. Spread mayonnaise (and mustard, if using) on the inside of each half.
  2. Optional: Lightly butter the outsides and toast the rolls on a skillet or griddle until golden and warm.
  3. Layer the bottom half with 2 slices of ham, avocado slices, tomato slices, lettuce, and pickled jalapeños.
  4. Top with the other half of the roll. Press down gently to hold the layers together.
  5. Serve immediately or wrap for an on-the-go meal.
