Ingredients
-
1 package (20 oz) cheese tortellini (fresh or frozen)
-
2 cups marinara sauce (store-bought or homemade)
-
1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
-
1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
-
1/2 cup ricotta cheese (optional, for extra creaminess)
-
1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
-
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
-
1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional, for a hint of spice)
-
Salt and pepper to taste
-
Fresh basil or parsley, chopped (for garnish)
Instructions
-
Preheat the Oven:
Preheat your oven to 375ยฐF (190ยฐC). -
Cook the Tortellini:
Cook the tortellini according to the package instructions, but reduce the cooking time by 1-2 minutes (it will finish cooking in the oven). Drain and set aside. -
Prepare the Sauce:
In a large bowl, mix the marinara sauce with Italian seasoning, garlic powder, red pepper flakes (if using), salt, and pepper. -
Assemble the Bake:
In a greased baking dish, spread a thin layer of the sauce mixture on the bottom. Add the cooked tortellini and toss gently to coat. Dollop ricotta cheese over the tortellini (if using), then sprinkle with mozzarella and Parmesan cheeses. -
Bake:
Cover the dish with foil and bake for 20 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly, and the top is golden brown. -
Serve:
Garnish with fresh basil or parsley and serve hot.
Notes
-
Add cooked ground beef, sausage, or spinach for a heartier version.
-
Use Alfredo sauce instead of marinara for a creamy twist.
-
Store leftovers in the fridge for up to 3 days and reheat in the oven or microwave.
-
For a crispy topping, mix breadcrumbs with melted butter and sprinkle over the cheese before baking.
