Ingredients

For the Dough:

  • 2 3/4 cups (345g) all-purpose flour

  • 1/4 cup (50g) granulated sugar

  • 1 packet (2 1/4 teaspoons) instant yeast

  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

  • 1/2 cup (120ml) whole milk, warmed

  • 1/4 cup (60ml) water, warmed

  • 1 large egg

  • 1/4 cup (60g) unsalted butter, softened

For the Filling:

  • 1/4 cup (60g) unsalted butter, softened

  • 1/2 cup (100g) brown sugar

  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon

For the Maple Pecan Glaze:

  • 1/2 cup (115g) unsalted butter

  • 1 cup (200g) brown sugar

  • 1/4 cup (60ml) pure maple syrup

  • 1/4 cup (60ml) heavy cream

  • 1 1/2 cups (150g) pecans, chopped

Instructions

  1. Make the Dough:
In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, yeast, and salt. Add the warm milk, warm water, egg, and softened butter. Mix until a soft dough forms. Knead on a floured surface for 5-7 minutes until smooth. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for 1 hour or until doubled in size.

  2. Prepare the Glaze:
In a saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Stir in the brown sugar, maple syrup, and heavy cream. Bring to a simmer and cook for 2-3 minutes until slightly thickened. Pour the glaze into a greased 9ร—13-inch baking dish and sprinkle with chopped pecans.

  3. Make the Filling:
Roll out the dough into a 12ร—18-inch rectangle. Spread the softened butter evenly over the dough, then sprinkle with brown sugar and cinnamon.

  4. Assemble the Buns:
Roll the dough tightly into a log, starting from the long side. Cut into 12 equal slices and place them cut-side down in the prepared baking dish. Cover and let rise for 30 minutes.

  5. Preheat the Oven:
Preheat your oven to 350ยฐF (175ยฐC).

  6. Bake:
Bake the buns for 25-30 minutes, or until golden brown. Let them cool in the pan for 5 minutes, then invert onto a serving plate.

  7. Serve:
    Serve warm and enjoy!

Notes

  • For a quicker option, use store-bought pizza dough or frozen bread dough.

  • Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days. Reheat in the oven before serving.

  • Add raisins or dried cranberries to the filling for extra sweetness.
